BOYLESPORTS JOINS FORCES WITH DISABILITY EMPLOYER TO CREATE DYNAMIC RECYCLING INITIATIVE

BoyleSports-and-Rehab-Recycle-partnership

Bookmakers BoyleSports has joined forces with Rehab Recycle to prevent thousands of kilos of electronic material ending up unused in landfill sites, while supporting the employment of people with disabilities in Ireland.

Rehab Recycle, part of the Rehab Group, is a social enterprise that provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities. It is Ireland’s largest non-governmental employer of people with disabilities. Rehab Recycle’s goal is that ‘nothing goes to landfill’ and is a market leader in information security management, WEEE recycling and confidential data and document destruction–pioneering the field since 1984.

BoyleSports has recently undergone a massive refurbishment programme involving the swapping out of its screen systems, creating a surplus of TVs and electrical equipment which can be recycled for domestic use. The company wanted to ensure these TVs did not go to waste and from this desire, the relationship with Rehab Recycle was born. BoyleSports is donating thousands of TVs to Rehab Recycle as part of their “Promise It to Rehab Recycle” programme, and both organisations are delighted to be part of this fantastic partnership.

BoyleSports National Inventory Manager Gerry Brady says: “BoyleSports, Ireland’s largest retail bookmaker, are undergoing a massive refurbishment programme and are delighted to announce that they will be donating 4,000 TVs to such a wonderful charity in Rehab. BoyleSports wanted to recycle their screens so that they could find a deserving home and not end up in landfill sites. Rehab Recycle specialises in the redistribution of equipment such as TVs to organisations and community groups who desperately need such help so this partnership is ideal for us. We’re glad to be part of the biggest ever undertaking of its kind and thrilled to be doing our part to help the environment.”

Speaking about the partnership, Rehab Recycle Manager Mark Maguire says: “Rehab Recycle is delighted to have been chosen by BoyleSports to ensure their electronic waste is reused or recycled and diverted from landfill. Working with Rehab Recycle means businesses can achieve their circular economy and environmental goals while supporting the sustainable employment of people with disabilities. BoyleSports is very much in tune with our zero-waste approach and our team of dedicated employees are thrilled to be part of this great initiative. BoyleSports will become a valued partner in our commitment to building an inclusive and diverse workforce.”

Rehab has been helping businesses to meet their recycling commitments since the 1990s, with a mission to provide sustainable employment in a range of different businesses to people with disabilities.
