STATEMENT REGARDING THE RESIGNATION OF MO FLYNN AS CEO OF REHAB
Monday January 27th 2020
“The Board of the Rehab Group has announced that CEO Mo Flynn is stepping down after five years in the role.
During that time Ms Flynn has overseen the transformation of the organisation, leading the implementation of a strategy which has resulted in the Rehab Group renewing its core vision, instating the highest standards of governance, and rebuilding public trust as a key provider of high quality services for people with disability all over Ireland and in the U.K.
Mo took over the role of CEO in 2015 at a challenging time for the organisation. She brought her passion, leadership and dedication to ensuring that the future of the organisation was secured, on behalf of all those using our services and our staff. Under her leadership Rehab has adopted a forward-looking focus, taking on new and challenging projects such as supporting people who have lived in outdated institutions to live independent lives, and developing new services in the areas of assistive technology and autism”, said Jimmy Tolan, Board Chairman.
Mo has been courageous and committed in her role as CEO. In 2019, Mo led the team which secured the future of Rehab’s services by publicly highlighting the sustainability challenge resulting from years of underfunding, demonstrating a relentless commitment to ensuring that vital services for people with disability were secured”, he said.
Ms. Flynn said that after five years, it is time to move on.
The role of CEO of the Rehab Group has been one of the most challenging and rewarding positions I have undertaken in my career. After five years, as the end of the strategy which I took on, nears, it is an opportune time to engage with new opportunities that have arisen”, she said.
“I am privileged to have worked with one of the most dedicated and committed group of people possible – the staff of the Rehab Group. Despite the challenges of significant state underfunding in disability services, that we have faced in the last number of years, our staff have always remained totally dedicated to ensuring that the people who use our services get everything they need. I will miss them”, she said.
Ms. Flynn also thanked current and past Board members for their voluntary contribution to the task of ensuring that the Rehab Group has operated to the highest standards of governance, and for their support for her as CEO.
