At NLN in Castlerea we provide a range of free courses to people who have had an accident, illness, injury or have a disability and extra support needs.

Our courses are tailored to each student’s needs, to help them to build their confidence while getting practical job-seeking skills to help them get a job or go on to further training.

Transition

Transition enables students to sample a range of vocational options and to develop the skills, knowledge, confidence and resources to access employment, further training/education or options in the wider community.

Certification: QQI Level 4 Employment Skills (4M0857), QQI Level 4 ECDL (ECDL), QQI Level 3 Employability Skills (3M0935).

Fresh Start

Fresh Start is a 12 month personal development and work-related skills programme. It is suited to unemployed people who need educational or health related supports. The programme gives people the opportunity to explore training and employment opportunities while learning new skills and achieving a qualification. For many, it is the first step back to education as an adult student from where they can progress to further training or employment.

Employer Based Training

This is a flexible innovative programme, which facilitates participants to receive practical training in a host company workplace with the support of National Learning Network staff. This programme is offered in conjunction with carefully selected Host Companies with a high commitment to training delivery. This programme suits people who are out of work due to accident, illness and need support to return to employment.

Certification: QQI Level 4 Employment Skills (4M0857), QQI Level 5 General Studies (5M3114).

Information Technology by Blended Learning

A flexible programme providing students with the opportunity to achieve Information Technology and Business Administration qualifications. This programme combines centre-based learning with home-based learning and work experience, where students are provided with the necessary information technology, office and personal effectiveness skills to obtain and retain employment or move on to further education.

Access

The Access programme aims to develop the personal and social skills of students. This is done through extensive use of community facilities and practical skills training. The programmes also aims to help people progress to greater levels of independence.
