Rehab has been involved in retail training since 1979 and has been operating commercial retail stores since 2005. Currently Rehab Retail operates stores under a convenience model of retailing branded as SMILES. SMILES retail offers a wide range of products and services depending on location and market demands.
Since opening the first Rehab shop at Allied Irish Bank, Head Office, Rehab Retail has offered excellent service and achieved significant growth. This has been achieved while remaining true to the mission of empowering people with disabilities.
Rehab Retail opened its latest SMILES corporate store in September 2009 in partnership with Price Waterhouse Cooper, Spencer Dock Dublin. The facility includes a wide range of products and services, including, drinks, confectionary, dry cleaning, newspapers, cards, gifts, ice cream and a range of essential beauty and health care products.
Rehab Retail's newest SMILES store is located at Sandycove Dart Station and opened in December 2009.
All our partners, their staff and visitors have unique requirements therefore we work in partnership to develop relationships which allow us meet the unique and changing needs of customer and facilities management teams at each site.
At corporate sites, staff and visitor numbers at shop locations can range from 500 to 5,000 people per day. Companies have engaged with Rehab Retail because we provide a good quality and comprehensive service but also as part of their ongoing corporate social responsibility strategy. As a result Rehab Retail operates SMILES Stores and related service including vending and newspaper delivery at a growing number of corporate and city locations.
Rehab Enterprises core objective involves providing integrated social employment in commercially viable settings where employees with disabilities work alongside able-bodied people in an equal working environment. Today we have 29 staff working at 10 locations on a schedule which ranges from 7am to 9.30 pm, 7 days per week.
The distinguishing feature of the Rehab model of paid competitive work is its comprehensive system of support services, all geared to ensuring that all employees including those with disabilities can take up work successfully and remain in employment.
With the assistance of employment specialists, mentors, co-workers and managers, the company strives to remove the barriers which people with disabilities face in the workplace so they can maximise their skills and potential.
