National Learning Network welcomes Sligo Rovers Players

There was a huge welcome from National Learning Network students and staff for local sporting heroes, Matthew Judge and Brian Cash when they visited the centre in Bridge Street, Sligo on 1st May.

The two footballers, who play for local team Sligo Rovers, visited the centre to talk about the club, its plans for the future, and to answer questions from an enthusiastic group of National Learning Network staff and students.

As this was Sligo Rovers first visit to National Learning Network, the premier division club marked the occasion by presenting a signed football to the group, which was later won by a delighted Mairead McHugh.

According to student, Kieran Holohan, great credit should be given to avid Sligo Rovers supporter and fellow National Learning Network student, Tony Kelly, who singlehandedly organised the memorable and successful event which resulted in National Learning Network receiving a special invitation to attend Sligo Rovers' home game against fierce rivals, Shamrock Rovers on 3rd May 2008.
