The Official Teams for the 2013 Rehab Parliamentary Pancake Race are Announced!

Lords, MPs and political correspondents have been dusting off their trainers and practising their best pancake-flipping skills ready for the 2013 Rehab Parliamentary Pancake Race.

Today, the teams who will be suitably attired in chefs’ hats and aprons to continuously flip pancakes in the hotly-contested relay race have been announced. Fighting for the prestigious Rehab Parliamentary Pancake Race Magnificent Tin Cup this year are:

Team One – The MPs

Ms Tracey Crouch, MP for Chatham and Aylesford; Mr Martin Horwood, MP for Cheltenham; Mr Julian Huppert, MP for Cambridge; Ms Cathy Jamieson, MP for Kilmarnock and Loudoun; Mr Stephen Lloyd, MP for Eastbourne; Mr Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham; Ms Tessa Munt, MP for Wells; Mr Ian Murray, MP for Edinburgh South; Mr Jason McCartney, MP for Colne Valley, and Stephen Pound, MP for Ealing North

Team Two – The Lords

Lord Addington; Lord Dubs;Lord Kennedy of Southwark; Lord Redesdale; Lord Rennard; Lord St John of Bletso

Team Three – The Political Correspondents

Nick Robinson from the BBC; Gary Gibbon from Channel 4; Sophy Ridge from Sky News; Patrick Wintour from the Guardian; Nigel Nelson from the Sunday People; Ben Duckworth from Total Politics; Kirsty Buchanan from the Sunday Express; Jane Merrick from the Independent on Sunday; Sam Macrory from Dods.

The race, which will be held in Victoria Tower Gardens outside the Houses of Parliament on Shrove Tuesday, 12th February, has become an annual parliamentary tradition and is enjoyed by crowds of enthusiastic spectators every year.

The event supports Rehab which helps transform the lives of people with disabilities and others who are marginalised by enabling them to become more active, independent and play a fuller part in their communities.

The 2013 race will be launched by Official Starter and Race Scrutineer, Sky News’ presenter Lorna Dunkley. Lorna Dunkley joined the Sky News team in 2002 and has presented during some of the major national and international news stories of the last decade including, most recently, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.
