After much deliberation and discussion, Rehab has decided to cancel our annual Rehab Parliamentary Pancake Race planned for Shrove Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Victoria Tower Gardens, Westminster.
Having considered the timing of the planned event amid the intense focus a unique debate such as Brexit demands of Parliamentarians and media, Rehab’s management and events team decided it would be inappropriate to go ahead with our charity race at this time.
The decision to cancel the 2019 race has not been taken lightly. Rehab would like to thank those Members of the House of Commons and media who had already committed themselves to supporting and highlighting the work of Rehab and Momentum Skills by agreeing to take part in this popular annual event and indeed all of those who have taken part for the past two decades.
The relay race is one of London’s must-see annual attractions. It draws hundreds of Londoners and tourists who flock to see the runners dress up in pinnies and chefs’ hats to raise awareness of the important work carried out by the Rehab disability charity.
Rehab provides training, employment, health and social care services to more than 6,000 disabled people and those at a disadvantage in the labour market. Members of the public wishing to support the work of Rehab’s brain injury services across the UK can visit www.parliamentarypancakerace.co.uk to donate.
We look forward to the return of our popular Parliamentary Pancake Race in 2020.
