Merrion Investment Managers have emerged as the clear winners of the fifth Rehab Great Investment Race having made an amazing return of a €267,000 on an initial investment of €100,000.
Devised and organised by Rehab Lotteries, the Rehab Great Investment Race has, since its inception in 2001, raised a staggering €860,000 for autistic children and their families in Ireland.
Through 'bull' and 'bear' markets, global catastrophes and economic uncertainty, the thoroughbreds of Ireland’s fund managers have given selflessly of their time and expertise to support an extremely worthwhile cause.
At the launch of the Fifth Rehab Great Investment Race in July 2007, each of the five race participants were presented with a cheque for €100,000 to invest as they wish in the stockmarket. The fund managers needed to use all their skill and experience to outwit the markets, in an effort to raise as much money as possible for RehabCare’s autism respite services nationwide.
The overall profit from the fifth Great Investment Race was €163,000. In addition to Merrion Investment Managers, who also claimed the top spot in fourth Great Investment Race, other participants in this year's race include Bank of Ireland Asset Management (BIAM), winners of both the second and third investment races; AIB Investment Managers; Irish Life Investment Managers, and KBC Asset Management.
