RUNNING FOR REHAB

Do you fancy embarking on a new challenge and at the same time raise valuable funds for Rehab?

Why not join Ireland's top female radio presenters and women from all over Ireland in running for Rehab in the 2009 Flora Women's Mini Marathon this June? We'd love to have you on board!

The biggest all-woman event of it's kind in the world, the Flora Women's Mini Marathon will take place on 1st June, 2009. It not only promises to be a fun day out, but also a great way of getting fit and raising money for Rehab at the same time.

This year, all the money raised by Rehab runners will go towards our innovative HeadsUp Suicide Prevention Programme. Specifically aimed at young people between 15 and 24 years of age, the HeadsUp programme promotes positive mental health and provides information and support to those in need.

Each year up to 500 people die as a result of suicide in Ireland. Over a quarter of these deaths are in the 15-24 year age category, with a significant proportion being young men.

The HeadsUp initiatives include ASIST, a suicide awareness and intervention training programme, a life skills and life-coaching course, a parenting course for fathers, as well as an interactive website and a free text service which enables young people to access a range of helpline and support services - the text service has been used by over 5,000 people to date.

By participating in this year's mini-marathon and running for Rehab, you will help us to raise the €200,000 needed this year alone for the HeadsUp service. You can find out more about HeadsUp at www.headsup.ie.

If you or your friends would like to get involved and Run for Rehab, you can register at www.florawomensminimarathon.ie. Let us know you’re joining the Rehab team and we'll send you on a pack that includes a t-shirt and sponsorship cards. We can also help you to create your own fundraising page, so you can keep your supporters up to date on your progress.

For more information please contact Kate Ryan in Rehab's Fundraising Department on (01) 2057231 or by email to kate.ryan@rehab.ie.
