Q. What Does NRAC stand for?
A. National RehabCare Advocacy Council
NRAC's work is based on five values:
Q. Why was NRAC set up?
A. NRAC was set up in 1997 to ensure that the opinions of service users on the programmes they use and other issues affecting people with disabilities are heard within RehabCare.
Q. What does NRAC do?
A. At national level, NRAC offers opinions on various issues within RehabCare. It also makes suggestions about decisions that are made by the government. At local level, NRAC works on issues that affect its members' local services. NRAC members organise events and get involved in various activities such as disability awareness training.
Q. How does NRAC work?
A. NRAC has local committees all over the country. In many cases a person who is not employed by RehabCare helps to facilitate NRAC meetings, which usually take place every fortnight. Every year, NRAC members elect a new national committee, which is made up of eight representatives from around the country. The development of NRAC is supported by a national development officer.
