Mum's the ‘Award’ as the Search Gets Underway to Find Ireland's Number 1 Mum
Mum and presenter of the 2010 People of the Year Awards, Gráinne Seoige, today joined some Dublin mums to launch the “Inspiring Mum of the Year” award, a special new Award introduced for this year. The Awards, which are organised by Rehab and sponsored by QUINN-healthcare, will be televised live on RTÉ One on Saturday 11th September. Celebrating their 36th anniversary in 2010, the People of the Year Awards provide a unique opportunity for the Irish public to honour contributions made by individuals and organisations to life in Ireland.
Being a mother can be demanding with many mums playing the role of not only parent, but also teacher, nurse, counsellor and confidante, to name but a few! Often seen as the glue that holds many families together, mums’ contribution to society is immense.
Commenting in advance of the launch, Mr Dónal Clancy, General Manager, QUINN-healthcare said: “Mums play one of the most pivotal roles in our society, selflessly put their children’s lives before their own in enabling them to live their dreams. Mums offer invaluable support to their families and communities every day of the year and this can sometimes go unrewarded and unrecognised. Invariably, everyone sees their own mum as the best mum in the world, however, with this award we have no doubt that we will see nominations of mums who not only excel in their endeavours inside the home but also mums who have done fantastic things outside it too. We hope that this special new People of the Year Award for Inspiring Mum of the Year will go some way in acknowledging these often unsung heroes of Irish society.”
If you know a mum that should be considered for the Inspiring Mum of the Year Award, then now is the time to nominate her. Nominations for this category as well for other People of the Year Awards can be submitted online at www.peopleoftheyear.com or by email at poy@quinn-healthcare.com.
