Santa Ski Challenge is Back in Glasgow
Monday, November 17, 2008: After storming the slopes last year, Momentum’s Santa Ski Challenge is back at Xscape’s SNO!zone in Glasgow this December, and this time it’s going to be even bigger and better than ever.
Big-hearted skiers and snowboarders are invited to take to the snow slopes dressed as Santa and to raise money for Momentum, a charity which assists over 2,000 people who have a brain injury, spinal injury, mental health problems, and physical and learning disabilities, to achieve their goals.
This year, organisers have increased the number of places available and are holding two separate events. The family Santa Ski Challenge will take place on Sunday, December 7 and the ‘after-work’ Santa Ski event is on Wednesday, December 10.
The challenge is to ski the 5k track – 25 runs – within 2 hours. Participants will be supplied with a free Santa suit and will receive a goody bag and a hot chocolate. There will also be prize giveaways for people who raise the most sponsorship.
Momentum is aiming to raise £25,000 from the event which will be used directly to support its work across Scotland. Entrants are asked to submit a booking fee of £10 for adults and £5 for children and then to raise a minimum of £120 in sponsorship (£50 for children). Places are limited, so to book a place, please call the Santa Ski Hotline: 0141 221 2333 / email: events@momentumscotland.org.
Lindsey Spowage, Momentum’s Resource Development Manager, says:
“This is the only event of its kind in Scotland and it’s all about having fun, getting in the Christmas spirit and raising money for Momentum in the process. We’re hoping to get as many people involved as possible and to make the event an even bigger success than its debut last year.”
